Small-scale mushroom production gives an opportunity to interested farmers and income generation trough less usage of land. Those farmers who want to use mushroom cultivation as away to extract value from Waste materials. It plays an important role in managing farm organic waste when agricultural and food processing by products is being used as growing media for edible mushroom. Mushrooms lend themselves to a great variety of culinary treatments. They may be baked, fried, boiled, creamed, roasted, pickled etc. To reach the maximum production of mushroom, availability of good quality spawn is the major constraints. Taking all these points into consideration ICAR-KVK, Gonikoppal established Mushroom Spawn production unit during 2015. with following objects of 1.To provide Quality seed (Spawn) to Mushroom grower timely 2.To create self employment to the rural youths/SHGs 3.To influence and update knowledge of rural youth and farm women through trainings.
