In Kodagu District, Black Pepper, known as the king of spices, is traditionally cultivated as an intercrop within coffee-based cropping systems. However, the crop has been facing significant challenges, including yellowing of leaves, spike drop, and foot rot disease. To address these issues, KVK devised strategic interventions and initiated On-Farm Testing (OFT) using Arka Microbial Consortium (AMC) for soil drenching. As a result of these efforts, KVK Kodagu has produced a total of 61,394 kg of AMC. This technology has benefited 9,631 farmers and covered an area of 4,329 hectares, helping to mitigate the problems and improve the health and productivity of Black Pepper crops.
